Our Story

Growing up, I received one clear message about being gay: that it was the worst thing a person could be. So I hid. For years, I showed up as someone I wasn't — wearing the right clothes, saying the right things, pretending my way through a life that never felt like mine.

When I finally came out, everything changed. My whole world flipped upside down. I had to start completely over — rebuild an identity from scratch, figure out who I actually was. It was terrifying. It was also the beginning of everything good in my life.

Fashion became my refuge. Experimenting with what I wore gave me somewhere to go when I didn't know who I was yet. I started working out, got more confident in my body, and discovered swim briefs. And then I went to Puerto Vallarta.

If you've been, you know. PV is wonderfully, unapologetically gay — Speedo stores on every corner, men in briefs everywhere you look. But when I actually picked things up and tried them on, I was underwhelmed. The fabrics were thin. The designs were boring. The prices were still high. I thought: someone could do this so much better.

I came home with an idea — and a husband named Jojo. He's my muse, my biggest supporter, and the reason I have the courage to do any of this. I named the brand after him.

swimwithjojo exists because identity matters. So many of us in the queer community spent years suppressing who we are, only to find ourselves on the other side of that closet door with the daunting task of figuring out who we actually want to be. Fashion helped me do that. I want it to help you, too.

The Jojo Brief is designed at that intersection — sharp masculine silhouettes, bright feminine colors, and a signature scrunch texture that lives comfortably in the space between. Because most of us live in that space. And we deserve swimwear that does, too.

We conceived of this idea in 2025, spent a year designing and building, launched our first collection in March 2026, and shipped our first orders just days ago. We're just getting started.
